Dr. Shah is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, refractive, cornea, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Known for his compassionate care and clear communication, Dr. Shah treats every patient like family – taking time to understand their unique needs and helping them navigate their options with confidence.
A Cleveland native and proud graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Dr. Shah completed an accelerated, 6-year, combined bachelors, masters, and medical degree. He received his bachelor’s degree (BS) and master’s in business administration (MBA) from the University of Akron. Dr. Shah then received his medical degree (MD) at Northeast Ohio Medical University, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. Dr. Shah completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He then pursued fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida – consistently ranked the #1 eye hospital in the nation.
Dr. Shah performs advanced cataract surgery using the latest lens technologies and laser-assisted techniques. He also performs a wide variety of vision correction surgeries, including LASIK, PRK, EVO implantable contact lens (ICL), and refractive lens exchange (RLE). He is trained in the latest techniques in corneal transplantation, including DMEK and DSAEK. Finally, Dr. Shah has a special interest in the management of ocular surface disorders and dry eye disease. He is driven to provide the best quantity and quality of vision to all his patients.
Dr. Shah has served as both principal and sub-investigator in several phase III and investigator-initiated clinical trials. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and he is a frequent speaker and educator at regional and national conferences. He remains deeply committed to lifelong learning, continually exploring emerging procedures and technologies that have the potential to enhance his patients’ vision and quality of life.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Cornea Society, and the Ohio Ophthalmological Society.
Outside the office, Dr. Shah’s greatest joy is his family. His wife, Michelle, is a radiation oncologist and practices in Dayton, OH. They are proud parents of their 2-year-old son, Vikas, and have a baby girl due in the summer of 2025! When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Shah enjoys staying active, cooking new recipes, traveling, and cheering on the Buckeyes and local Cleveland sports teams – still holding out hope for a Browns Super Bowl in his lifetime!
